Category Manager

The Company

A successful and rapidly growing food manufacturer who supply chilled and complex products to the major retailers across a number of sites. Focussed on innovation and high quality fare they are looking for a charismatic and competent Category Manager to help drive growth and enhance the NPD team’s propositions.

The Role

In this newly created position you will be working with major customer accounts to bridge the gap between category analysis and product innovation. Working closely with the development team and reporting to the NPD Controller you will seek to establish how emerging category movements can be worked into stunning new products which inspire and delight your high profile customers. Using data sources including Neilsen and Kantar you will provide key insight into trends and patterns, carrying out regular data performance monitoring and accurately communicating your findings to your colleagues and customers’ alike, giving promotional recommendations and advising on category growth opportunities. Creating and delivering engaging presentations you will invoke a sense of excitement about the products and sell the ideas as backed up with category insight and analysis.

The Person

As well as being a major foodie you’ll also have previous category management experience within either a chilled or a similarly complex product sector. You will have worked with major multiples in the past and will be familiar with Kantar, Dunnhumby or Nielsen. As you will be working closely with the NPD team you will also be aware of how category analysis can dramatically influence and guide product development opportunities from concept to launch.

In this customer facing role we need someone who is bright and engaging with the ability to present in an appealing and succinct way. Someone who won’t give a dry data-ridden performance to customers but rather a conveyance of the possibilities available, exploring all options and instilling a sense of passion about the products.
