My client is the exclusive distributor for Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) solutions from GLP Systems. GLP Systems specialise in the supply of cutting edge pre and post analytic automation systems and sample tracking using ground breaking design and technology. SUK are currently pro-actively promoting solutions from GLP Systems with several tender submissions including GLP Systems products currently under evaluation. It is expected that the first GLP Systems product installations will occur throughout 2015.

Job Summary

Apply your wide variety of skills, experience and technical & application knowledge to achieve the highest magnitude of uptime and highest level of customer support, outperforming all current technical KPI's through the application of detailed call and trend analysis. Actively converting this information to usable intelligence to enhance service.

The role is a combination of office & field based and will call for travel to support our service offering across mainland UK, and support my client's Ireland & Northern Ireland offices. This role will involve overseas travel for training purposes and to support the installation of GLP projects in other affiliates as required.

You will be expected to take on responsibility at an individual and team level for the following:

  • Driving of overall momentum and tone of service delivery
  • Enhancing customer's experience of installation
  • Technical Support & PMI's
  • Cross Functional Field Support
  • System Ownership - Upkeep (National)
    • ECR Monitoring & implementation
    • Primary/Secondary
  • Monitor & Report - Regional/Site Level
  • Development and delivery of world leading training
    • On-site
    • Engineer - buddy

Key Skills of the Role

The role of GLP Systems Engineer will require the following skills:

  • University Education.
  • Experience of following and also running a PRINCE2 project management framework (PRINCE2 Practitioner status would be desirable).
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to read GLP Systems layout designs from Visio and AutoCAD files.
  • Ability to project plan installations of complex solutions.
  • Ability to read full project implementation GANTT charts and design installation plans for GLP Systems solutions in accordance with the overall project plan.
  • Ability to install and maintain GLP Systems components (modules, tracking, connections to third party analysers).
  • Solid understanding of GLP Systems IT infrastructure (TSM and Routing Engine).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the underlying utilities design involved in a GLP Systems layout.
  • Expert knowledge of XN-9000 System.
  • Expert knowledge of CS-5100 System.
  • Solid understanding of My client Extended IPU middleware software.

Time Demands

You will be expected to lead installations of complex Total Laboratory Automation System solutions and EDTA and Citrate Island Automation Solutions. Each installation will be different requiring varying amounts of time to be spent on site. Depending on the complexity of each installation, there may be a requirement to spend Monday to Friday on site during an install for as long as 4 weeks in some cases while the installation is completed. Initial training will involve a three week course held at SEG followed by further 2 two week course also held at SEG a few weeks later. Training will also include assisting with the installation of GLP Systems TLA solutions in other international affiliates within Europe. The time spent supporting installations with other international affiliates will follow the same timescale detailed above for installations in the UK and Irish market. There may be a requirement to spend as much as four continuous weeks out of the UK supporting these installations with weekends spent back in the UK.
