The Company

My client, one of the UK's largest suppliers of Gifts, has found the need for a new National Account Manager to help support their retail accounts. They are a design led company, offering a diverse collection of products which are unique and different. Their team of designers continually develop new collections in line with market trends and customer design briefs.

They work closely with their major customers to develop their own bespoke product and provide advice and guidance on future product ranges. Extensive global and national research is continually performed by the team to create the exclusive product offering which sets them apart from their competitors. Our client has achieved 25% growth over recent years and is looking to continue this success and move forward in a positive and profitable manner.

The Role

As the new National Account Manager you will be responsible for driving the business forward within the accounts that you will inherit and look at different ways to develop new business, therefore increasing the turnover and profitability of the business. You will also be responsible for maximizing the sales and distribution of the full product range within your account portfolio. With a combination of industry knowledge, excellent rapport building and outstanding people skills, these accounts will continue to be profitable.

This role will require you to be office based 2 to 3 days per week with the rest of your time spent visiting and growing your accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountability for delivering targets on profit and turnover.
  • Responsibility for managing the accounts on a day to day basis, with support and involvement from other departments as necessary.
  • Forecast business in line with other departmental requirements.
  • Responsible for regular contact with the customers to maximize the effectiveness of account penetration and maintain/develop customer relationships.
  • Promote at all times, the Company image, Products and Strategies in such a manner as to reflect credit upon it.
  • Negotiate with all existing and prospective customers to ensure the selling price gives the best possible return for the company. 
  • Submit all reports, expense claims and any other company reports as required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work with other internal departments to help reduce ‘costs to serve’.
  • Responsible for the production and ongoing updating of Customer information.

The candidate

The right Candidate will have evidence of opening a number of new business accounts with the ability to handle a multimillion pound business. The right candidate must be able to work in an autonomous role with the ability to bring solutions not problems to the table, they will be tenacious in nature, being able to Increase business opportunities through various routes to market. You will be from a non-food FMCG back ground, ideally Cards, Gifts, Stationary or Home Accessories. You will have experience in dealing with the Top 4 Grocers and High Street Retailers.
