We are a leading sous vide food manufacturer, supplying retailers and food service businesses across the UK from our manufacturing base in the North West of England.  We have expanded considerably in the last two years and are about to embark on further expansion activities via a combination of organic growth and acquisition of complementary businesses.   We are a business who embraces technology and always looks to innovate to support and deliver our medium and long term strategies.

The Role

This role forms a key element of the Company's senior management team, however, the right candidate who performs to expectations will have a defined path to the role of Director of Production and Procurement.  The role holds primary responsibility for:-

  • leading and shaping all production operations

  • achieving high levels of schedule adherence combined with the highest standards of quality and hygiene

  • reduction of process and overhead costs and minimisation of waste

  • capacity planning and resource management

  • management and reduction of waste

  • health and safety policy and management

  • leading teams across a 24/7 operation

  • ensuring all schedules are met on time and in full

  • developing production processes

  • identifying opportunities for innovation and the harnessing of technology

  • working with the board to develop coherent plans for production, procurement, and capital investment,in support of the Company's strategy

  • working with our staff based in the Southern Hemisphere to ensure procurement schedules are aligned to customer demand and manufacturing schedules

  • ensuring the right level of investment in working capital.The main challenge here is to optimise stock levels and minimise waste.

  • leading the review of manufacturing capabilities in any companies identified as acquisition targets

  • ensuring the manufacturing operations of any businesses which we may acquire are carefully and efficiently integrated and aligned to operations of the Company


The Person

The successful applicant will be someone with a desire to eventually operate at board level and will hold a high work ethic.  He/she must have demonstrable talent and a track record of career progression and achievement.  We require an operations manager with specific knowledge of the food industry, in a FMCG or manufacturing environment.  The most important feature of this role is a desire to perform to high standards and show a willingness to seek ways to improve operational performance whilst reducing cost.  The person will be articulate, a strong leader of a diverse workforce, and have drive and determination to deliver challenging production schedules whilst developing new processes, harnessing technology, optimising stock levels, and reducing cost.
