Summary:

A leading food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a European Buyer for Sweeteners and Jams into their centralised Purchasing team. The role of the European Buyer is to manage the procurement of Sweeteners, Starches, Jams and Fillings products. The role holder will also maintain and develop the supplier base, drive strategic relationships and develop and execute material group strategies.

The European Buyer will report into the Category Manager, responsible for the purchase of several key commodity and ingredient portfolios.

Job Description:

The European Buyer will be responsible for a spend of circa £15M across the UK, North Europe, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. The role operates within very volatile global markets where the buyer will need to ensure risk management tools are in place to cap their exposure to changing market dynamics.

The role holder will have the responsibility to deliver key initiatives in line with overall Procurement objectives, as well as develop the category strategy, exploit synergy opportunities with international business units and deliver objectives in terms of cost, quality, service and innovation.

In this role the Buyer will work closely with stakeholders across the manufacturing sites, wider supply chain and the central technical team to ensure the delivery of key material group projects and activities.

Key requirements:

At least 2 years’ experience of buying & managing commodity/ingredient portfolio.

Demonstrate a desire to succeed with proven expertise in driving project autonomously.

Excellent communication, organisational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent negotiation skills, Supplier Relationship Management and Market research

Experience of budget management, change management, project management, Strategic Planning and financial reporting
