The Head of Foodservices UK is a board role with significant responsibility in shaping not only the UK Foodservice strategy but also the UK&I total business. The key individual therefore must have significant executive presence and gravitas within a senior team of functional board leads.

The Head of Foodservice, in addition to leading the strategy of UK Foodservice, also supports the delivery of the European Foodservice growth agenda. The incumbent shall have scope and control over the UK F/S business at an entrepreneurial level, thereby giving him /her the bandwidth to create their own business in a highly lucrative and relatively untouched market. Heinz UK F/S Business Unit has a major share of the total F/S industry in the UK. The role also has a number of very different direct reports therefor provides a great man management and leadership opportunity for the right candidate.

The role, at this point, reports directly into the UK Managing Director.

The Foodservice Business Unit is one of the key growth areas of Heinz Europe and the Head of Foodservice will be responsible for a part of the $280mil European business and lead and grow it in an entrepreneurial manner. He/She in turn will be offered the independence to structure the role as is required and have unlimited career growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agree and develop a Vision and Strategy for the UK Foodservice business that also feeds into the European Foodservice Strategic agenda.
  • Develop an integrated sales & marketing plan that delivers against the UK F/S vision and strategy.
  • Oversee the deployment of the plan through the UK F/S channels using the sales and marketing teams to execute across UK F/S.
  • Take a 1-2 year perspective on future market trends and anticipates changes in the UK Market place and course corrects accordingly flexing the strategic levers available across the business to deliver the 1-2 strategic plan.
  • Optimise the key metrics within UK foodservice to deliver and exceed the annual plan, by flexing price, promotions, and annualised customer negotiations for UK customers.
  • Responsible for the monthly business process and reporting of UK F/S numbers into the UK business with remedial action for any shortfalls across UK F/S. Also reports monthly into the European F/S BU.
  • Develop strong customer relationships at board level across the key UK customer base at both the commercial and marketing level.
  • Look to draw on best practise across Europe and Global F/S to drive new ways of working across the UK
  • Networks all the relevant functional heads to ensure the UK F/S strategic agenda is met.
  • Looks to recruit and up-skill the general management team and encourages the grass roots development of the F/S team
  • Motivates and leads direct reports to ensure business objectives are met and UK plans delivered
  • Plays a key role in shaping the UK strategy for the UK business through regular participation in the weekly and monthly UK&I board meetings


Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in major blue chip organisation, with a strong marketing background
  • He/She must have a relevant Master’s Degree
  • He/She needs to have a high level of influencing skills and ability to work across different markets
  • Commercially astute- Both sales and marketing competency is key for the success of this position
  • Man-management skills
  • Entrepreneurial drive
