As Buyer of Raw Materials, you'll provide the key interface between our central Petcare Europe Buyers based in Verden, Germany and the suppliers delivering all direct raws directly to our Melton site. As Buyer of Raw Materials you'll be reporting to our Senior Commercial Operations Manager and working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to drive and maximise value for Mars, and you'll be responsible for the £73m local raw material buying portfolio for the Melton Petcare unit on a on a day-to-day basis across a base of approximately 40 suppliers. 

Key deliverables as Buyer of Raw Materials include:

- negotiating contracts with selected local suppliers to deliver competitive advantage

- executing the buying strategy defined by the European Strategic Sourcing Managers

- challenging existing business norms to exploit supplier developments and innovations

- driving local COGS reduction in close liaison with internal stakeholders and external partners.

For this position as Buyer of Raw Materials you'll be educated to Degree Level in Economics or a Science discipline, you have a proven track record in an operational environment, including the management of external commercial relationships, preferably encompassing supplier contract management.  With a sound grasp of MS Office and SAP, as Buyer of Raw Materials you're strong on analysis with first-class negotiation skills, and you're an excellent all-round communicator (in English), relationship-builder and influencer, who is also: - action- orientated - highly customer-focused - a great problem-solver.
