Catman Jobs are looking for an interim Senior Category Manager in Yorkshire for a food group with strong own label presence looking to expand in to the branded arena

The Business

Holding a spread of leading ambient sku's across a long established supermarket category this food group has invested significant capital in developing and driving category growth across the Top4. At the same time, its competitors do the same in one of the most competitive categories in UK retail. This business has been responsible for pioneering significant innovation to re-invigorate the category. They retain an exemplary relationship with their customers backed up by increased investment in category.

The Role

The role is initially an interim position with a strong possibility of becoming permanent if that is what the individual desires. The short term requirement is project based and will see the successful interim develop a strategic category plan as to how they expand the category for the retailer's. You will report directly in to the MD, giving insights both internally to the board but also to a senior influential level across their retail customer base. Following the development of the plan you will either recruit your replacement to implement that plan on a day to day level or you may wish to stay on yourself longer term on a permanent basis to see it through and continue to manage the customer relationship moving forward. 

The Person

You will have FMCG based category management experience either at the Senior Category Manager or Category Controller level. You will be used to manipulating data such as Kantar, Nielsen, Dunnhumby and IRI data with an ability to draw succinct insight from the detail.
