New England Seafood is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of fresh and frozen premium fish and seafood. We have enjoyed unrivalled success having grown substantially year on year over the last 15 years, which can in part be attributed to our respect for the environment, commitment to sustainability and dedication to quality. This ethos coupled with a belief that relationships are built on trust has led to our market leading position and a customer base that includes all of the leading supermarkets and many top restaurant chains. We supply products in both fresh and added value formats and this includes wild pacific salmon, yellowfin tuna, sea bass, sea bream and scallops, along with many other premium species which are sustainably sourced from locations as exotic as The Maldives and Alaska. Once sourced, product is then shipped to the UK where it is processed and packed in our state of the art and soon to be expanded production facility which employs over 300 people. Over the last 18 months, we have started to shift our focus into more shopper/consumer led initiatives. We have invested a new resource into Category and Marketing roles and insight work on the consumer. Due to growth of the business, we are looking to add a general management Species Director to run one of our business units.

Role

Reporting into the Managing Director of New England Seafood, you will act as a general manager for a large business unit within the company, by having overall responsibility for sales and profit growth for this category. You will be responsible for building the short and long term value of the species by owning the species’ vision and strategy, and by driving execution of the short and long term cross-functional plans to ensure targets are met. You will develop and deliver insight led strategies, covering NPD launches, assessment of shopper missions and behaviour for the category and promotional effectiveness. You will regularly review and appraise the species performance within all channels and customers, and work closely with sales colleagues to construct and deliver compelling commercial propositions based on insight. This role will also require you to work closely with the Marketing Controller and directing the NPD function with proactive new product innovation plans. This role is an opportunity to prove yourself, with a view for you to sit on the board in the near future.

Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, experience of fish and seafood is not important as there is a vast array of experience in this area within the business from which you can learn. You must be extremely commercially astute and have a desire to broaden your remit and hold more accountability across all the business functions. You must be a strategic thinker with a self-starter attitude to succeed within our business. This role would be very well suited to a National Account Controller, Business Unit Manager or someone with a commercial buying background looking to step into a broader role.
