This premium food manufacturing group produces an ever-expanding range of innovative chilled products infused with passion, variety and quality. They’re now seeking a resourceful and driven Category Analyst to support their vibrant team in achieving their ambitious commercial agenda.

The Role

Reporting to the Category Manager you’ll play an integral part in the commercial and NPD process through providing essential analytical insights in relation to the competitive and fast moving chilled category. Using a number of varied data sources such as Kantar, Nielsen and EPOS you’ll generate reports to reflect market activity, identifying sales trends and highlighting potential business opportunities. With your robust commercial insight you’ll organise key shopper information to formulate proposals for potential marketing campaigns and seasonal promotions that will really make the most of product innovations.

Working closely with internal commercial teams as well as major retail customers you’ll also provide reviews of existing products and marketing channels, evaluating performance and applying your sound category understanding to drive improvements for future techniques. In addition you’ll be aware of emerging food trends, conducting store visits and keeping abreast of retail and competitor movements in order to ensure this prominent company retains its enviable position within the industry.

The Person

To make an immediate impact in this role you'll need previous data analysis experience within a retailer or FMCG environment, and knowledge of external data suppliers would be highly advantageous. As well as a passion for food and the latest trends you will have an analytical and mathematical approach to identifying market developments in numerical form. A high level of computer literacy is essential as you will examine data from a multiple range of sources for simultaneous projects, therefore excellent organisation skills are also a must-have. In addition you’ll need to have first class communication and presentation skills in order to work effectively within the team to impress and influence major retail customers
