Head of Food Centre - Food Industry Cheshire

Reaseheath Food Centre is an industry-leading academy with an international reputation in the food and drink sector.

As Head of Food, you will continue the development of the already vibrant Food Centre, delivering a leading edge, invested, operation, offering outstanding facilities for Industry and students alike. This hybrid role, offers commercial accountability to develop business and a responsibility to support and facilitate the very best educational offer for students. With such a broad remit, it is likely you will have a commercial orientation to your background, but we would also be interested in candidates with previous experience of the Commercial, NPD, or Technical Management functions within the food manufacturing or food retail sectors. The position is a senior role and will influence the strategic direction of this part of the College and will work externally with major food manufacturers and SME's alike. It is a challenging position, with many stakeholders, and offers huge opportunity and challenge.

This is a role that requires board business experience and real understanding of the food and drink sector. As one of the key opportunities is to see how The college with it's leading edge Food Centre, that includes outstanding tests and pilot plant facilities can engage with, and commercially develop relationships with, major food manufacturers and retailers. Whilst developing the academic focus of the centre. It needs an individual with a credible and proven track record in a number of different areas. Selection criteria therefore will focus on food industry expertise gained from either the Commercial, NPD, Technical or Purchasing disciplines at a relatively senior influential level. We will expect the successful candidate to develop relationships and contracts with major manufacturers and SMEs alike. Whilst being committed to the balance that guarantees outstanding educational resources. There is also a big management responsibility with a large team,. So previous people management and development experience is also key.

This is a very different position with stretching and unique challenge. As a consequence of the hybrid nature of the role, we can accept applications from a wide array of food industry backgrounds. However, we will be exacting in the need to recruit an individual who shares the goals and values of the College and has the strategic capability to set a plan and the pragmatism, determination ad skill to deliver it.
