Job Details
We are working with a leading supplier of fresh produce into the retail sector, who is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer for their production facility in Cornwall. The position is initially based on a 12 month contract and will report the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Manager
Key Objectives
- To promote Health and Safety awareness and ensure all safety related functions are completed as required within the relevant Health and Safety Regulations.
- To ensure Risk Assessments are in place for all activities, both on site and off, by both employees and external contractors when performing their duties.
- To receive, record, and investigate reports of accidents and dangerous occurrences.
- To establish root cause and make changes to activity as deemed necessary to reduce/eliminate any risk.
Must Have
- At least 2 years' experience of working in a similar position
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of a production setting and the part Health and Safety plays within the environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, orally and in writing, to a wide range of people and departments both internally and externally
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision
- Be enthusiastic and demonstrate the ability to adapt to change, and find practical solutions to problems.
- Good analytical and IT skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records with meticulous attention to detail
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- NEBOSH/IOSH or COSHH qualifications
- Have Membership of a recognised Health and Safety institute
