Buyers x 2 - Senior Buyer and Buyer - Raw materials and Packaging

These are brand new roles on a growing manufacturing site, reporting into the Purchasing Manager and will be an integral part of the team.

The Role

To build and maintain close relationships with, and manage, company direct materials suppliers with regard to price negotiation, quality, and delivery deadlines, whilst keeping up to date with market trends to ensure competitive prices for the company.

To closely liaise with all functions within the business to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.

Duties Include

• Manage the main contracts and ensuring successful implementation of the contract
• Set up the supplier on the system, amend prices, support quality issues, with the minimum disruption to site
• Working with Finance to review costings for new items, complete price amend forms and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner
• Working with Technical to resolve quality issues
• Working with Commercial to support trials and costing work
• Working with NPD to ensure critical paths are met at all times
• Working with Planning to ensure the suppliers supply on time and in full
• Working with Operations to support the bakery on resolving raw material and direct materials issues
• Liaise and work with Direct Materials Suppliers to supply and amend new items on budget in time
• Reduce and manage costs
• Take an active role in Value Optimisation and propose solutions with costs and justifications
• Attend Customer / Customer Review Meetings where necessary
• Reply to customer requests appropriately after consulting the business
• De-List Management – manage redundant stock to minimise on cost to the business
• Manage and maintain current purchasing database plus improvement – price recording and NPD tracker – ensuring this is accurate at all times
• Manage direct materials critical path effectively and within budget
• Negotiate the best terms for the supply of direct materials
• Regular benchmarking of suppliers to ensure most competitive prices achieved
• Advising suppliers of NPD for new products – direct materials implications, keeping within purchasing strategy
• Hold Reviews with supplier that cover Service, Quality, Continuous Improvements and cost.
• Provide a day to day service for the Purchasing function and quality issues.
• Submit proposals on budget prices each year.
• Deal with invoice discrepancies.
• Provide monthly statistical report to Purchasing Manager
• Carry out administration work as required by the role.
• Visit Suppliers, producing a report from each visit.
• Provide expertise regarding direct materials, keeping up to date with developments in the market place.
• Supplier selection – making proposals of New direct materials Suppliers to the business covering service, quality, contingency plans, price and company stability.
• Attend New Product Development meetings and feedback to Purchasing Team ensuring new lines launch on time
• Carry out project work as required.
• Management & monitoring of direct materials related KPIs
