National Account Manager – Tesco

Up to £58,000, company car, bonus, healthcare and pension   

Homebased within the Midlands or South

An excellent National Account Manager opportunity has arisen to work with one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of ambient foods, managing the Tesco account. Following a recent restructure within the senior management team, there is now a requirement for a National Account Manager to join the business, reporting to the Retail National Account Controller and managing the Tesco account.

The key purpose of this role is to deliver gross margin and net sales targets for the clients branded business within Tesco, initially to focus principally on the existing branded business and then potential private label business. In addition to the above the successful National Account Manager will be expected to win new business in new categories for my clients branded business.

Principal accountabilities include:

  • Negotiating annual Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with Tesco across all company brands.
  • Driving distribution of existing and new branded products.
  • Managing the product mix to maximise margin on branded business.
  • Negotiating on all elements of cost pricing, terms and promotions within the company guidelines.
  • Delivering on agreed price increases.
  • Seeking new profitable private label business within Tesco.
  • Exercising trade spend control and process adherence.
  • Managing effective communication with Tesco.
  • Communicating competitor and market activity into the organisation.
  • Directing customer contact across all relevant functions.
  • Taking ownership of the Tesco volume & financial forecasting.
  • Monitoring sales vs forecast on daily basis and understanding performance.
  • Working with Tesco on range/ space (category) recommendations.
  • Working with Supply Chain team to maximise customer service levels.

You shall be expected to have at least 3 years’ National Account Management experience working with Tesco within any food category. In addition, you are expected to have a strong understanding of all Microsoft Office based programmes, will a proven track record of delivering results within a fast paced FMCG food environment.
