Area Sales Managers – Gardening Products

£28-30,000 Basics, Company Car, Bonus + Benefits

Our Client is a well established & highly reputable business operating within the Gardening/Garden sector.

The business now needs two new Area Sales Managers. See below for required experience:

 Candidates must be experienced selling into the garden centre channel ( independents only ).

  Candidates should ideally have experience of selling a garden centre product with a degree of seasonality to it. The perfect categories would be ( in order of priority ):

  .  Compost, Fertiliser, seeds etc

  .  Garden Tools

  .  Christmas Lines

  .  Garden ornaments

  .  Cards / gifts

  .  Fish / aquatics

Candidates can be from either branded or own label goods.

Good strong FMCG / Sales / Territory Management skills are more important than product knowledge ( which can be trained ),

There are two vacant areas, each with about 150 live accounts. These are mainly account management roles but there is some new business involved, and certainly lots of potential should somebody want to get the bit between their teeth. The typical sales year is split into “ in season”  and “ pre-season”. In season is March to September ( during which the job holders will be doing 5 or 6 calls each day ). The pre-season is the rest of the year ( during which time the job holders will be doing 2 to 3 calls per day ).

The areas are as follows :

Area 1 ( South Wales and Midlands ) – Starting at Swansea follow the south Welsh coast ( along the M4 ) to Chepstow / Bristol, then continue along the M4 ( in a westerly direction ) until Newbury, then go due north to Coventry, then go due west cross England and Wales until you hit Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast ( about half way up Wales ), then follow the Welsh coast in a southerly direction all the way back to Swansea.

Area 2 – ( North Wales and North West ) – starting at Aberystwyth on the west Welsh coast, go east to Coventry, then north to Sheffield, then west to Chester, then follow the Welsh coast in a southerly direction all the way back to Aberystwyth.

Candidates can live anywhere on patch, but the more central the better.

Remuneration – £28k to £30k basics plus company car, plus a bonus of up to another £5k pa.
