Job Details

Working across both the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, the trade magazine for the pub sector and Restaurant Magazine, this hugely exciting position will involve carrying out sales campaigns, and drumming up delegate business for forthcoming Events for both publications. We have a huge variety of events from conferences, business clubs, Awards ceremonies, dinners and industry focused chef demo forums.

No two days are ever the same, one day you will be chatting to famous household named Chefs about attending our National Restaurant Awards, the next you will be selling delegate participation to a publican who wants to attend our Spirits Summit in Shoreditch. This is a fast paced role and requires great enthusiasm and tenacity.

You will be also be working on database research, and telesales for new and existing events in the calendar. Some of the events are free to attend and involve telemarketing, and some of the events are based on table sales/delegate sales and require telesales.

It is generally not a cold calling role – the vast majority of calls will be to people already connected to our brands. However we are currently launching new events and require support on database research and telesales to make the events a success.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work across two highly respected publications and gain insight and experience into a variety of events within the hospitality sector.

The main duties of the Events Sales and Marketing Executive are outlined below.

Delegate and Participant Sales Campaigns

  • Calling contacts from internal and external lists to promote forthcoming conferences, networking lunches and awards and maximise delegate volumes and revenues for these events Confidently call some of the biggest customers from FMCG brands Developing and maintaining prospect lists for one-off and repeat events Maintaining a high call rate, and conversion rate from these calls Advise clients on the content and importance of events to maximise entries and attendance.

Marketing

  • Assist in the development of marketing campaigns across all events Assist in providing design briefs for marketing materials to the Design Team Liaise with the Events team and Editorial teams on marketing activity for each event Ensure our leading websites are kept up to date

Administration

  • Managing enquiries on a daily/weekly basis Maintain databases to ensure they are up to date, database research for new events
  • Accurately maintain customer records and history for all attendees on appropriate systems. Call and chase finalists/VIPS where necessary

Knowledge Development

  • Keeping abreast of industry developments Building relationships throughout the industry

General duties

  • Support the Event Sales Manager to ensure targets for each event are met Keep up-to-date with William Reed’s products and services. Develop first class knowledge of William Reed’s titles and events, their competitors and industries served.

At Events

  • Attend events where applicable Assist the Events team on registration to meet and greet clients/VIPs

It could be you………

The successful candidate will be fantastic at persuading people to attend our events, and confidence on the phone is key.  You will possess good sales and telemarketing skills and be self –motivated to get the job done.

This role requires someone who is an awesome communicator, with attention to detail and a multi- tasker capable of using excel and outlook.

You will be someone who is confident working to deadlines, a team player and passionate about events, and in making each one a huge success.

The first stage will involve a ten minute telephone interview followed by a formal second stage interview.

This role would suit a recent graduate or sales executive looking for a new challenge within the Events Industry.
