With over 100 years of trading history and product heritage, this company is truly an iconic brand within the UK sports/outdoor leisure market. The business is part of a global business, with sales in excess of £500m and manufacturing sites across Europe and the Far East. The company manufactures and distributes products that sell through the independent trade as well as middle-market high street retailers. In addition to this, the company has a number of ‘destination’ retail stores developed in partnership with their customers. An opportunity has now arisen for a Business Development Manager to help attract, project manage and retain retail partners in the independent channel.

This is a very diverse, commercial role that will have a broad range of responsibilities for the successful candidate. Firstly, working proactively as well as with warm leads, you will identify suitable retailers (independent businesses) to partner with and covert to the company’s retail facia. You will then take on a project management role, overseeing in-store development, merchandising, point of sale propositions and generally ensuring the retail partners offers the highest quality proposition possible to the consumer. You will help formulate joint business plans to ensure both their business and your sales and product distribution prosper. This role will report to the Sales & Marketing Director and will form a key part of the company’s overall strategy moving into 2015.

Given the broad nature of the position, this role will suit someone that has worked in a progressive, commercial, retail environment that has involved new store openings and business planning. Alternatively, you may have worked for a consumer goods brand that has its own retail stores. You must be bright, autonomous and very sales-focused individual, whilst having a keen eye for detail in an exciting retail format. Ideally you will have a passion for sports or the outdoors as you will need to be able to relate to and advise upon product.
