The Opportunity

This is a rare and career defining opportunity that will suit a dynamic and animated category individual that is looking for a challenge that will test even the most capable of Senior Cat Mans. The role will take full accountability for one of the fastest growing category management functions in the food industry.

The Business

With a turnover well in excess of £250 million, our client is a globally recognised Food manufacturer that has built up a fantastic reputation within in its product sector. As such the organisation is looking to drive this growth forward by appointing a highly capable Category Controller to shape the future of its category marketing function.

The Role

This is a position that will carry a huge amount of weight within the business and as such is a very crucial appointment. As well as being responsible for the strategic direction of the category function within this part of the group you’ll be accountable for an expanding team of category individuals who analyse data sets including Neilsen, Kantar, and retailer specific data. This role requires you to not only influence the key retailer including Asda and Tesco at a top to top level but mentor a forward thinking team of developing category and insight managers. You must be able to lead from the front by helping the commercial managers and brand teams to formulate an argument that can help take the conversation away from price with the toughest of retailers. Beyond leading the team and developing the category strategy you will have a voice on where the group spends its information spend for the coming years.

The Person

To be considered for this opportunity you must be working as a Senior Category Management or Category Controller within an FMCG business (Food or Non-Food) and have a working knowledge of the Major supermarkets. You need to be an energetic leader that can win over both internal and external stakeholders in a trading environment that changes almost on a daily basis.  The ability to manipulate Neilsen, Kantar, Retail Link and Dunnhumby data is a must along with the confidence to present a compelling argument that can leave the retailers impressed and hungry for more.

If you hit the ground running and impress you will be quickly earmarked for progression to group director level.
