Key Responsibilities
- Instilling a culture of product service and retailing passion
- Providing strong leadership to a team of internal and external stakeholders.
- Coaching and developing team in the principles and practices of contract negotiation, performance management and operational excellence to meet the needs of the business with simple, commercially orientated processes
- Drives Onboard Revenue agenda, ensuring priorities are recognised and accommodated within wider business
- Proactively identifies opportunities for innovation & product development through market understanding
- Maintaining extensive knowledge of competitor and industry best practice
- Building strong relationships with other Carnival UK departments and Corporate Operating companies and play a full role within wider business projects outside of the department or company
- Coaching in retailing best practice by taking learnings from the high street and integrating into the ship model
- Driving On Board Revenue performance versus target and initiates recovery plans where appropriate, ensuring revenue and cost of sales lines are actively financially managed and controlled
- Provides strong leadership for external contract negotiations, ensuring commercial terms are competitive and future fit for the changing needs of the organisation
- Reviewing and re-engineering existing products, processes, systems and methodologies in order to deliver sustained improvements to customer service and product offering
- Delivering monthly updates to the Board on performance and strategy development
- Ensuring product offering and compliance procedures are Brand appropriate and fit for purpose
- Ensuring compliance to contract terms and Service Level Agreements
- Providing specification expertise for new build and refit programmes
- Working with Hotel Services to ensure compliance of all procedures and good operating practice within fleet regulations
- Develops the capability of the On Board Revenue team, building strong engagement and clear succession planning and ensuring the teams are customer facing in their approach
- Accountable for setting annual budgets, and managing revised targets, for both revenue and costs
- Regularly review performance against cost and revenue targets and ensure that appropriate action is taken to achieve those targets
Experience
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Ability to maintain a balanced internal, external, corporate & business perspective
- Strong analytical and commercial experience and evidence of improving business performance
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of retail environments, customer centric
- Experienced at managing cross functional projects
- Experience of managing competing priorities effectively
- Evidence of effective influencing & negotiation skills
- Track record of delivery in a target driven environment
Desirable:
- Solid understanding of cruise industry and ship environment
- Proven track record of significant change management and Board influence
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Working knowledge of competitive tendering procedures
- MBA
