Job Purpose and Mission

Starbucks is now looking for a Senior Learning and Development Manager who is responsible for consulting with stakeholders to gain agreement on learning priorities and translate the EMEA Operations 3 Year Plan into a learning strategy and tactical delivery plan of critical learning across EMEA.

A main part of the role is to lead the design and implementation of retail training across all ownership models in EMEA ensuring that our partners have the skills and capability to succeed.

The position works closely with the Director of Learning, EMEA Programmes Manager and EMEA HR partners to tightly integrate learning solutions to increase overall effectiveness and impact on Starbucks operations.

The Senior Learning and Development Manager formulates the tactical learning plans of learning solutions for EMEA retail operations, ensuring that partners have the skills to succeed. The role works cross-functionally with the company owned/license/franchise teams to develop and operate one framework of training solutions and ensures that all training is fit for purpose and relevant. The role liaises with market learning managers and HR partners across ownership structures to understand current and future training needs and designs and reviews programs as required to fit market needs.

The Senior Learning and Development Manager is responsible for defining robust measures of success of all learning programs; work in partnership with the US and EMEA Learning Programs Manager to implement necessary changes to continuously improve standards of training materials. Defines the approach of talent programmes of high potential/next in role retail partners and works in partnership with the Senior L&D manager (Non-Food and Support Centre) to ensure alignment of all relevant learning solutions Delivery of programmes and train the trainer will be required.

Experience & Skills

  • Commercially and customer-focused
  • EMEA Learning and Development experience
  • Track record of working in a demanding, large, matrix and customer-focused business
  • Track record of delivery of learning solutions across multisite multichannel retail operations
  • Experience of coaching operational managers (coaching accreditation is desirable)
  • Experience of facilitation
  • Experience of managing and delivering Assessment and Development Centres and providing feedback is desirable
  • Formulate learning strategy and tactical plans aligned to an organisation’s operational plan
  • Manage a small team of direct reports and lead virtual teams
  • Track record of project management
  • Budget management and forecasting
  • Knowledge and qualifications in psychometric assessments is desirable
  • Fluent in English; fluency in French and/or German is desirable
