Head of Category Management - FMCG

My client is a leading food manufacturing business that produce a range of branded and own label products that are instantly recognisable and market leading within their categories. This role has an extremely high profile within the business and requires the right individual to manage a range of key stakeholders across all levels of seniority. Highly commercial, the main function of this job is to lead the category team and drive category growth within the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone perhaps at Senior Category Manager level to advance their career.

The Role:

• To lead the team in identifying actionable opportunities for the business that drive category growth.
• Highly commercial role that combines influencing strategy, input into the channel strategy and the development and execution of plans to drive total category growth across all retailers.
• Develop, deliver and sell a compelling category vision identifying clear category drivers to move the business forward.
• Deliver the budget, understand and deliver Commercial objectives as set by the Sales team.
• Leadership and management of 3 direct reports.
• Full budgetary control of both the Continuous Data Budget and Trade Marketing Budget.
• Cross functional leadership with the; Sales, Marketing, NPD and Finance teams.
• Manage the trade marketing team.
• Development and delivery of a robust trade marketing plan by account and tailored to each retailer.
• Ensure the excellent execution of New Product launches into store and subsequent review of sales performance.
• Develop and maintain strong category partners within key customers across both brand and own label products.

The Requirements:

• Prior experience of working on multiple product categories over multiple channels and delivering business enhancing Category Management strategy and direction.
• Graduate level or equivalent.
• Proven track record of FMCG experience in either Category Management or Insights.
• Demonstrable Leadership and Management experience.
• Strong relationship building and negotiation skills.
• Excellent IT skills and strong data analytical skills.
• Highly numerical.
