We currently have an opportunity for a Sales Development Manager. Your overall brief will be to develop, implement and manage a customer and sales strategy to achieve new business sales growth in the first Brakes Professional Food Market. This will be a permanent role and will be based in and around the catchment area for the Croydon store.


Main responsibilities

The opening of our first Professional Food Market supports the Companys overall plan to grow our Independent share of the food service market.  Your role will require you to:




  •          Develop and execute strategies for lead generation to drive increased revenue and profit, to achieve and exceed sales and margin targets.

  •          Manage existing customer relationships and reactivate lapsed customers.

  •          Manage the nursery period with new customers

  •          Monitor competitor activity and market dynamics within specific markets and surrounding stores.

  •          Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets.

  •          Develop and deliver pitch/negotiation for new customers.

  •          Maximise selling opportunities by analysis of customer need and selling the Brakes proposition.

  •          Build a professional and trusting relationship with customers.

  •          Develop multiple contacts with each customer (influencers, decision makers and stakeholders).


Ideal candidate

Wed love to hear from you if you can demonstrate these key attributes and skills:




  •          Experience managing multiple contracts and delivering on time and on budget.

  •          Retail sales experience.

  •          Proven track record of creating profitable new opportunities and developing customer relationships.

  •          Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

  •          Strong analytical skills.

  •          Knowledge and experience of business planning, including creation of targeting plans and pipelines.

  •          Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions.

  •          Knowledge and experience of the foodservice industry

  •          High level of commercial skills through personal sales experience.

  •          A passion for food.
