ROLE: 

As a General Manager / Operations Manager you will be responsible for the organisation and control of efficient and profitable warehouse and transport operations within the distribution depot, in order to provide a high quality service to the customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

a) Control of goods receipt, replenishment, ferrying, customer order processing and despatch operations.

b) The control of all ancillary operations affecting the quality of service provision; the control of stocktaking / checking / maintenance systems and procedures.

c) Overseeing the scheduling, deliveries and transport administration.

d) The implementation and maintenance of depot hygiene operations.

e) Oversee adherence to / review of operational systems and procedures and suggestion of continuous improvements where necessary, in accordance with quality standards requirements (e.g. ISO9001).

f) Assisting with the preparation of operational budgets; the control of operational costs in accordance with agreed budgets.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: 
a) Experience in warehousing and distribution, with demonstrable experience in people and process management.

b) Strong organisational, planning and communication skills.

c) Commercially focused, capable of delivering results in a cost effective manner.

d) Capable of building working relationships and networks with people from a range of backgrounds and cultures.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

a) IOSH qualified.

b) Experience of working with or for food wholesalers / retailers.
