Sustainable supply chain consultants (2 posts)

Salary: £26,358 to £38,625 depending on qualifications and experience

In order to meet growing demand for ADAS supply chain consultancy we wish to appoint 2 experienced consultants to contribute to developing and delivering our extensive portfolio of research and consultancy in sustainable agricultural supply chains. As part of the ADAS Sustainable Food and Farming team, supply chain consultants provide technically robust, evidence based consultancy to a range of client organisations including multi-national food and drink companies with international supply chains, UK corporate businesses, levy bodies and some Government work to develop and maintain sustainable and competitive supply chains. The consultancy covers a range of areas including; sustainability metrics and indicators, sustainability programme development, supply chain engagement, feasibility studies, impacts assessments, compliance, resource use efficiency, risk management and resilience, and strategic developments. The focus of our work is on crop and livestock products including food, feed, fuel and fibre.

The successful applicant(s) will lead sales and delivery of profitable research and consultancy assignments as part of a team, and in so doing, build long term relationships with clients. Ideally candidates will have a background in agricultural production, processing, food manufacturing or retail, and experience working in consultancy, however training and development is available for those will less experience.

The post is expected to be based at either our Cambridge or Wolverhampton offices but other office locations may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop business with new and existing clients through effective networking, relationship management and high quality tendering and proposals.
  • Oversee and deliver high quality and innovative supply chain research and consultancy work as part of the sustainable food and farming team.
  • Manage projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standard
  • Raise profile of the ADAS supply chain offer with clients and colleagues
  • Provide expert input to colleagues in the sustainable food and farming team and wider ADAS.

  Capabilities

Applicants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of at least one key supply chain in food (crops or livestock products), feed, fuel and/or fibre, and the key issues facing businesses.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the policy and regulatory environment in the key supply chains.
  • Develop new business through tendering and proposals, networking and building relationships with clients to contribute to a growing portfolio of ADAS sustainability work in key sectors which could be in production, processing/manufacturing, transport or retailing.
  • Apply appropriate research methods and commercial understanding to a broad range of production and supply chain issues. This could include data gathering, analysis and evaluation for feasibility studies, impact assessments and risk assessments, to meet client needs.
  • Write high quality proposals and project reports in a range of formats with clear and concise presentation tailored to the reader needs of complex issues.
  • Work well under pressure and in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Effectively organise own time and that of others to meet project deadlines, some of which will be at short notice.
