COMMERCIAL MANAGER – Grocery Multiples

Home based : North West or Yorkshire

Our client is a highly successful, £ multi-billion, global food group operating across markets throughout the world.  With sales of over £1bn the UK division is a market-leading, added-value, chilled foods manufacturer and one of Europe’s biggest in its category. The business has extensive manufacturing locations throughout England and Ireland supplying major retail and foodservice customers both in the UK and internationally. With a solid reputation for innovation, NPD and significant capital investment the business continues to show strong growth.

The company is now seeking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to manage two of its key northern- based, Grocery multiple customers. Reporting to the Director of Sales, you will be P&L responsible for managing a significant and growing category and will take ownership for all commercial activities including developing and delivering NPD initiatives and a joint business plan to ensure continued future growth. The job role also requires a high degree of cross-functional working so you will need to be a skilled influencer and networker across different business functions.

The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre, currently operating at NAM or Commercial Manager level within a recognised FMCG food or drink business. Your specific category experience is less important and you could have a background in either brands or own-label, or both. You must have experience of previously managing at least one Top 4 Grocery Multiple together with a track record of success in a category driven business relationship. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate strong commercial acumen, and an ability to manage complexity. Above all, you will be a genuine team player with a “can do” attitude and a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

The position is home based ideally with candidates living in the North West  or Yorkshire with good access to  M62/M56 motorways to facilitate regular access to the company’s manufacturing sites. Candidates must be prepared to travel regularly as required by the nature of the job role.
