Store Manager 2014

Key Responsibilities

  1. to drive sales forward to regularly achieve weekly, monthly & yearly sales targets.

  2. to be commercially aware

  3. to plan, co-ordinate and carry out in-store promotions which successfully allow us to

    1. run marketing campaigns to drive up footfall,

    2. give our sales team the tools to sale,

    3. offer customers enough perceived discount / promotion to attract their custom

    4. to preserve margin to ensure that the minimum G.P. is always either achieved or surpassed .

  4. to drive & motivate our current sales team forward to ensure they meet their personal sales targets.

  • Retail Management

    1. responsible for the day-to-day management of the store in accordance with overall company policy,

    2. ensuring the store is not only appropriately stocked at all times but is also as appealing as possible,

    3. managing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control;

    4. analysing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning;

    5. analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes to maximise profits;

    6. maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives, and monitoring what local competitors are doing;

    7. initiating changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can compete effectively in the local market;

    8. responding to customer complaints and comments;

    9. touring the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues;

  • working closely with the assistant manager to ensure the requirements of the business are met by the sales team through delegation of roles and management of personal areas of the showroom,

  • communicating with members of the sales team as well as all support staff to ensure that everybody in the business is aware of what is happening on the shop floor, or is due to happen on the shop floor,

  • managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency;

  • dealing with staffing issues: interviewing potential staff; conducting appraisals and performance reviews; and providing or organising training and development;

  • updating colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues;

  • Management Information

    1. to produce accurate, meaningful and up to date management information to allow the managing director to make day to day decisions on the direction of the company.
