Interim Category Manager - Packaging

Our client is an instantly recognisable global FMCG brand, and a leader in their category. Part of a multinational conglomerate they have annual revenues in excess of $100 billion.

Currently they have an interim/contract opportunity for a Category Manager to join their global Procurement team based from Greater London

Reporting to the Global VP of Procurement, the Category Manager will develop and deliver the global procurement strategy for packaging across EMEA.

You will be accountable for:

Ongoing development and implementation of procurement strategies for packaging materials.
Management of the procurement of this category, within financial limits, process controls and policy.
Procurement support for Projects to include as necessary:
- ?Packaging development
- New product development
- Contract packaging & manufacturing
?Delivery of significant cost savings on a continuous basis. Achievement of this by optimising supply chains, seeking process and product improvement, and consolidating and optimising supply with other group businesses.
Identifying and minimising business risk with the supply chain.
Preparing tenders, negotiating and drafting contracts, developing opportunities for supply chain integration and cost savings.
Supporting the development of procurement processes and policy.
Management of a small team in the UK.
Development of close working relationships across the global Procurement organisation. Specific support as necessary across EMEA to include Russia and Czech Republic.

As this is an interim role, applicants will need to be available at short notice and have a proven track record within Procurement/Purchasing, specifically within a Packaging category. Prior experience of working within FMCG is advantageous, but not essential.
