Job Details

Based in our Head Office at The Beer Studio, Media City and reporting to the Managing Director, this challenging fast paced and influential role offers the opportunity to join a growing, award-winning business.   

In Summary

To provide marketing and commercial support to the business in the areas of managed house operation, tenancies and wholesale / free trade sales to maximise company profitability.

Specific Responsibilities

Brands

  • Working with the marketing executive, produce and implement brand plans for Hydes cask  beers and the Beer Studio range
  • Produce a full range of POS material to support the company’s brands and service the  needs of the managed and tenanted houses

Managed House

  • Working with the marketing executive, develop and implement effective retail marketing  plans at an estate and house level that can be demonstrated to positively contribute to the  profitability of the business on a fully-costed basis
  • Oversee and review the business development expenditure at house level (eg.Discount/Entertainment/ Satellite TV etc) to ensure that this is being targeted in the most effective way by site.
  • To thoroughly review EPOS data and make clear recommendations to the management  team as to how company profitability can be improved as a result
  • Co-ordinate pricing on both wet and dry products and ensure that pricing policies are fully reflected through the EPOS system, are logical at a site, product category and individual  product level, and fully reflect the agreed promotional activities

Tenanted Business

  • Working with the marketing executive, develop and implement marketing activity to support the estate as a whole and to construct activity plans tailored at a house level
  • Develop a support package for Hydes tenants designed to minimise their costs and provide business support and advice from Hydes and third parties
  • Manage tenanted pricing and discount policy

Wholesale and Free Trade Business

  • Develop a wholesale and free trade business plan to maximise profitability through this channel.
  • Negotiate with existing and prospective wholesale customers to achieve stocking features of Hydes cask beers on the best possible terms to maximise company profitability from this  channel of trade
  • Co-ordinate any free trade business initiatives that the business may initiate in the future  (No free trade operation currently exists)

 General

  • To manage procurement of third party wet products and the equipment, consumables and services for the managed estate
  • To manage the company’s website and social media policies

 

 

Person Specification

This is a broad marketing role within the licensed trade demanding a range of skills and experience:

 Experience

  • Recent P&L management
  • Multi-site licensed trade management of managed houses and/or tenanted houses
  • Marketing across multiple sites and, ideally, brand management of a consumer-targeted  brand
  • The negotiation of equipment purchases and service contracts

 Skills

  • Strong commercial skills facilitating the production of reasoned and costed commercial  proposals of a quality to be presented to the company’s board meetings without prior  amendment
  • Capable in all areas of the marketing mix with particular focus on the brand development and implementation of promotional activity
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, web page management and  social media
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and enthuse colleagues with regard  to the initiatives that you formulate
  • Strong analytical skills allowing you to review multiple data-sources to draw conclusions  and translate these into clear action plans that improve business  performance
  • Sound negotiation skills

Company

Is a pub operator and cask ale brewer based in Media City, Salford. Operating around 60 pubs in the Northwest including North Wales, our estate is split 50/50 managed and tenanted. Our range of pubs is diverse, ranging from traditional wet led to large destination food and also includes some city centre venues and accommodation. Two of our sites have won the ‘Best Managed House’ category in the Great British Pub Awards in 2011 and 2012.
