Job Details

This company is a highly respected specialist drink manufacturer with increasing international presence and growing market share.

Their marketing is well recognised and respected but they are aware that there could be significant improvement and that there is a need to freshen the brand in line with expanding markets, a developing audience and innovative new products.

You will own the full marketing mix from brand management, customer insights and product development to packaging and advertising across all key brands. 

The Role:

  • Lead and project manage concepts and new product launches
  • Working with the management team to establish the marketing strategy for the company
  • Devise actions to ensure marketing plays a tangible role in successfully achieving company objectives
  • Develop and set clear brand plans and priorities
  • Create annual marketing plans and recommended budgets in line with business plans and agreed budgets (for POS, advertising and sales support tools, trade and consumer exhibitions and events)
  • Project Manage the activation and commercialising of all brand programs, initiatives and NPD launches within the respective sales channels
  • Plan and execute annual trade marketing plans including website, social media, trade shows, consumer events, packaging & POS materials
  • Deliver overall trade marketing support for all trade channels
  • Create and execute plans to drive customer awareness - PR, consumer understanding and communication
  • Manage a small team and inputs from a number of 3rd party business partners e.g. marketing agencies, PR/social media and event activity company
  • Proactively report and manage the status, risks and issues of all brand programs and initiatives, escalating and communicating with the appropriate function as required
  • Working with 3rd party category agencies (CGA/Nielson/dunnhumby etc.) be responsible for the total trade and category insight
  • Working alongside the relevant sales person in translating insights into compelling category stories that can be applied to drive the category strategy
  • Develop creative communications briefs and manage the creative process
  • Manage marketing budget of several hundred thousand
  • Set a clear brand agenda with the Sales team and run brand plan presentations
  • Analyse business performance and recommend business opportunities
  • As the company expands globally working with the Export Sales Manager on all marketing material produced to fit for global purpose, and sensitive to cultural differences
  • Providing objective insights and recommendations to drive category growth
  • Guide the company innovation strategies and execution

We are looking for exceptional candidates who have excellent leadership skills, especially in shaping brands, to positively transform the business - a creative, organized, intuitive and enthusiastic marketer.

You will have:

  • A strong brand management background, minimum 5 years
  • Demonstrated proven success in delivering marketing results, preferably in the food and drink sector
  • ATL & BTL marketing initiatives
  • Good marketing communication skills
  • Excellent online marketing with an ‘eye for the future’
  • A creative flair and an excellent understanding of consumer engagement
  • FMCG background, preferably with drinks or premium brand awareness
  • Previous category management experience along with preparing category presentations for client-specific arguments would be desirable
  • A strong research and insight history
  • Focused on the importance of a mix of traditional qualitative/quantitative insight
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Management experience
  • Relevant social media exposure in e-commerce B2C – digital/on-line direct to consumer markets
  • Previous involvement in innovation and concept development
  • Event management
  • Good understanding of multiple channels to market; grocery, wholesale, on trade etc
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial/high growth company setting would be useful
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

With a solid background in a client-side role, you will be looking for the next step up.  Strong creative and strategic thinking skills are key with the ability to sell ideas and recommendations to internal teams across the UK and further afield.  The role is based in the North East of England and the incumbent will be expected to be in office c3 days a week minimum.
