UNIVEG UK core activity is as an importer and grower of conventional and Fairtrade fruit and a vertically integrated grower and packer of flowers and bulbs supplying the main U.K. retailers. At UNIVEG UK our product portfolio has now expanded during 2014 to include core product areas of Stonefruit, Tropicals, Top Fruit, Dried fruits and Horticulture.  From a customer perspective, our main commercial strength comes from our procurement and extensive knowledge of these categories, and the innovative marketing services we provide. 

 

Main Responsibilities

Eager to strengthen the marketing & business development function by recruiting a Category Insight Analyst to maximise the sales potential of the product category by taking a consumer focused approach, resulting in the delivery of category plans that are to the benefit of the consumer, their customer and the organisations position with the retailer.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager you will support driving the formulation of category programs to meet the sales needs of the business. Heavily involved in supporting the development and creation of strategy across numerous product categories and major multiples within a growing business, you will be comfortable with Kantar, Nielsen, Retail Link, Dunnhumby and other industry relevant insight sources.

Engaging well internally, articulating the role, direction and values of the business and customer you will possess strong communications skills, with a customer centric approach to your role. Championing the business with passion and belief across all areas of the business you possess strong creative and brand management skills that are coupled with business and marketing acumen.

  • Delivering category insight and highlighting key market trends from key sources of information such as Kantar data
  • Constructing insight, category and review presentations in a professional way to influence decision making and present UNIVEG UK in an industry leading way
  • Management of retail, promotional and photographic data bases with the ability to incorporate all of this data to build a complete retail picture
  • Support the Business Development Manager in delivering key business and customer projects
  • Interface with key customers internally and externally supporting the commercial team with category expertise and customer led plans for the benefit of the customer and company

The Ideal Candidate;

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated individual with an analytical yet innovative way of teasing insight and market trends from key data sources to deliver a persuasive view on the market with key actions and recommendations.  You must be someone who always takes responsibility and sees things through to completion within agreed timescales.  The ideal candidate should be commercially astute and an excellent communicator that can be highly persuasive with the ability to build strong relationships with customers both internally and externally.  You will also need to have;

  • Proven insight, commercial or marketing experience preferably within FMCG
  • Experience within fresh produce sector preferable but not essential
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to utilise the packages to their full potential
  • Strong communication skills – presentation, email writing etc.
  • Ability to influence at all levels
  • Experience of the use of Nielsen, Kantar Worldpanel, Retailer Proprietary Databases
  • Strong analytical skills
  • An understanding of merchandising principles and shopper behaviours
  • Problem solving, imagination and creativity
  • Passionate about understanding our customers and reacting quickly to meet their needs
