Head of Category Management – 12 month Interim Contract

This is a fantastic opportunity to join this leading retailer in their category review team.

You will head up the category planning / review process ensuring a consistent and commercial approach is taken.  

Applicants should have the following skills and experience:

• Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify trends and scrutinise performance, identifying key strategic opportunities
• Ability to developing and implement category plans alongside the relevant commercial teams
• A proven track record in the delivery of category strategy and category review / range review processes to deliver clear improvements in performance
• Ensuring that customer insight and commercial performance is at the core of the category review process
• Highly developed negotiation and analytical skills
• Senior buying / category management experience within a retail environment
• Excellent supplier management/development skills
• Accomplished project manager
• Significant experience implementing change and new business processes
• Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
• Strong commercial acumen – accountability for achieving and excelling company targets
• Exceptional people development and managerial skills

Senior level experience in retail or FMCG customer proposition is essential and previous category management experience would be an advantage. A thorough understanding of range, price, promotion, and supplier negotiations is key to the role as is an ability to translate analytical thinking and insight into practical and powerful commercial recommendations.
