The Company
My client is one of the UK’s largest FMCG manufacturers in both Private Label and Brand. With strong growth in its core business for the last 18 month our client is now investing profit back into the business, specifically into talent within the marketing team. Over half of the business is own-label focussed, with many well-established customer relationships. Moving forwards continued strengthening of their category management division will be crucial to the continued security of these accounts.
The Role
As a category manager, you will be responsible for pulling together market-leading insights and establishing your status as the ‘First to go to’ contact with the customer for regular and bespoke reporting. Alongside Insights, you will also monitor and track NPD, competitor and promotional activity to understand and respond as required. You will need to own range reviews, NPD launches and key project reviews. This will aid you in developing space solutions, point of sale and trade marketing plans where relevant. Internally, you will translate customer trends, sharing and reporting developments internally with relevant teams to develop competitive advantage and will assist with contributing category and consumer input for the business at customer meetings.
The Person
This desire to strengthen key relationships means our client is looking for strong relationship builders. The ability to cope with lots of change and retailer demands in an extremely fast-moving category is essential, although this must be balanced with the ability to see the bigger picture and not lose hold of the ‘long-game’. You will be adept at championing your business as the ‘go-to’ expert in insights and will have the gravitas and experience to influence at a top-level and address key retailer needs.You will have strong experience of using insights across panel data, retailer data and qualitative consumer research.
