Job Details

The ingredients division of one of the UK's most iconic food manufacturers is seeking a persuasive and persevering National Account Manager to develop ingredient sales with a specific portfolio of accounts.

This role will provide an ambitious individual with ample opportunities to impress as they meet and exceed sales targets, optimise profit and forge highly effective business relationships.

Reporting to the Business Development Controller, as NAM you'll use your considerable commercial savvy to make improvements in the key areas of gross margin, divisional contribution and volume, alongside credit and new business development. You'll also establish an impressive and comprehensive communication network to provide the business with timely and accurate information about its commercial activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing customer plans which deliver profitable business.
  • Working with our client's technical and NPD teams to develop NPD concepts to drive volume and margin benefit.
  • Increasing profit through the effective management of product mix.
  • Ensuring action is taken to resolve problems that arise.
  • Providing sales support to the Business Unit Controller and wider sales team, as appropriate.

What our client is looking for

The successful candidate will be someone with a technical ingredient background, someone who has knowledge of the food manufacturing industry - particularly with regards to bakery, biscuits or cereals. You'll be a sales professional with an impressive track record, or an ex NPD professional looking to get into sales.

To succeed in this role you'll be highly motivated and organised, and an exceptional communicator. You'll be someone with excellent negotiation and budgeting skills, someone who's able to deliver the required results and who understands the commercial and strategic impact of internal and external events. You'll also have project / NPD launch experience and will be able to travel throughout the UK (and some European travel).
