The Company
Our client is a well established family run catering company who have built an excellent reputation for supplying prestigious sporting and entertainment events throughout the UK. Due to their ongoing growth and exciting plans for the future they are now seeking a forward thinking Senior Buyer who is looking to make an impact within this successful business.
The Role
In this new position you will use your expertise to lead the buying function where you’ll be implementing successful processes through proactive communication and negotiation to deliver agreed budgets, category income targets and KPIs. Reporting to the Commercial Director you’ll be responsible for consolidating the supplier base whilst maximising margin on product categories, sourcing food and drink products in line with group strategy to achieve profit for the company as well as ensuring quality products for your key customers.
Additional responsibilities will include making recommendations for developing product strategies, keeping abreast of the latest industry movements and food trends. You’ll also use your experience of working with a diverse supplier base including well known brand names, applying your strong understanding of own label to continue to offer an assorted range without compromising on quality. This is a very cross functional role requiring you to build excellent internal relationships with sales, marketing and finance teams.
The Person
You will be an established Food and Drink Buyer who has a successful history of working for a food manufacturer or multi-site food retailer with an average spend of over £5 million. Experience of working within the branded or own label chilled food to go product area would be highly advantageous. You’ll have exceptional negotiation and influencing skills along with an eye for detail and a results-orientated approach. You’ll also have exceptional multi-tasking skills with the ability to work well under pressure. An understanding of BRC and knowledge of using EPOS / WMS systems is also desirable as well as good numerical and IT skills.
