An inspirational leader, and retailer, needed to take forward an innovative vertically-integrated food business set in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside.
The successful candidate will be a commercially strong retailer, a foodie with outstanding people skills. They will need to be both hands on as well as operate at the strategic level. They will also be ambitious and have the attention to detail to turn an existing vision into an efficient and customer focused business.
The business includes food manufacture and retail, food process and retail, and food service retail, so significant experience of retail and a strong interest in food is essential. In addition they will have to be good with numbers (financial management) and great with people to manage our 35 capable staff.
The Chief Executive’s (CE) role has come about due to the rapid expansion of the business. This new role will be to:
• run the business safely and effectively
• to lead, enthuse and inspire the executive team and staff
• deliver the strategy and the numbers
The main focus is to drive up profits by running the business in a more professional and effective way.
The business is positioned at the high end and consists of two farm shops, each with a butchery, kitchen and shop floor; a cafe; a restaurant and a fish & chip shop, with combined turnover of approx £2m. It started in Walsingham, and in year 4 of its 6 year life, took an opportunity to open a second operation at a visitor and tourist attraction 25 minutes away. There is an existing strong staff of 35 as well as a management team of 6.
