IN THE PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

Pursuit NHA seeks out and attracts the very best people in the marketplace, while saving valuable time for its clients throughout the recruitment process. “A rigorous interviewing and profiling process is central to our service,” explains Pursuit NHA chief executive Andy Ferguson. “This makes sure that only the right candidates are put forward for each role. Given the current market conditions good administration is essential – one position recently attracted 750 applicants all of whom needed to be reviewed and followed up with an appropriate response. We make sure our clients are always viewed professionally.

“We’ve been successfully recruiting people for 25 years – so our in-depth industry knowledge and expertise goes without saying. Our team also conducts an annual fmcg guide to sales salaries in conjunction with The Grocer, putting us in the perfect position to negotiate the ideal salary and benefit packages for every candidate.

“At Pursuit NHA we work closely with our clients and our team understand their culture and business objectives. Our relationships are so strong we were pleased that last year Weetabix and Hertz sponsored us as part of a Lands End to John O’Groats Bike Ride. Our yellow Weetabix shirts certainly ensured we were highly visible as we cycled through the countryside!”

FIERCE COMPETITION

“Candidates can trust us to work as a professional team on their behalf, and to keep them fully informed at every stage of the process,” says Mark Akehurst, consultant team manager. “We offer a wholly personal service designed around each individual’s needs. Roles are filtered and candidates are only presented to companies where there is a good fit – in terms of experience and culture – saving time for everyone.”

Since January 2009, Pursuit NHA has received an average of 92 CVs for every vacancy it has handled. “Clearly then,” says Akehurst, “a candidate really has to work hard to stand out from the crowd! A clear, concise and well-written CV is crucial of course. It is really important that candidates invest time in creating the best possible document that sells their skills, experience and attributes to maximum effect.

A good CV is professional, easy to read and follows a logical order. “Please avoid gimmicks like company logos and wacky layouts! You might think they’re eye-catching, but more than likely they’ll just irritate a recruiter!”

MARKETING JOBS

In terms of advertising, there have been massive changes over recent years – driven by the growth and increasing diversity of internet based communications. Ferguson says: “Effective recruitment in 2010 means combining on and offline attraction techniques with traditional

search methods. With a sharp focus on its core markets, Pursuit NHA has worked with clients in the fmcg and consumer durables sectors to recruit the best people into sales and management positions. We have also developed our business to offer an increasing number of additional services, including reasoning and psychometric testing as well as Assessment Centres, providing a complete resourcing service for our clients.”
