Our team
Good buying is the foundation of our business. As a Buyer within our buying team, you will make a big impact on our success by building great relationships with our suppliers and looking at new markets, new opportunities and new routes to market. We know our customers better than most, so you will need to be able to think entrepreneurially to meet their needs. Setting the speed in this fast-paced environment, you will be empowered to make quick decisions and do great deals.
Your role
You will obtain enormous job satisfaction from being empowered to drive your own results in a company that has made waves in the sector and delivers outstanding value for money to its customers. This role isn’t just purchasing products and getting them to the warehouse, it is about sourcing the product, guiding the supplier to give you the right information about the products (either catalogue or in store) and marketing the product. You really are the Managing Director of your own category where you will be responsible for supplier management, negotiations (including promotion support, cost prices and vendor management), setting prices and growing and managing a category across multiple channels.
Skills
We are looking for someone who has at least 5 years experience in buying for a retailer or similar business. A superb negotiator you have demonstrable influencing skills and will be comfortable pushing to get a great deal. Drive and resilience are essential, you will need to keep lots of plates spinning at one time, and when one falls you will need to get up and carry on.
