Purchasing Manager - Protein

My client is a market leading FTSE 250 food manufacturing business, with a reputation for being at the cutting edge of innovative development at the premium end of the market. They are now looking for an experienced procurement professional, who has prior experience of purchasing, ideally within the protein and ingredients market to join the business. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a leading FMCG business that attracts top calibre candidates who are capable of working at pace and are ambitious to progress within the business.

The Role:

• To provide and demonstrate the correct level of Procurement expertise to drive and support the Protein Purchasing category.
• Identify and highlight synergies across the business that will lead to savings, efficiencies and improved service.
• Develop strong, long term and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop solutions.
• Identify and implement innovative sourcing solutions, develop the business case and sell in new ideas and opportunities to the stakeholders.
• Assist in the strategic analysis and spend visibility.
• Act as the main point of contact for day to day commercial queries for internal stakeholders.
• Create negotiation strategies and negotiate favourable deals with suppliers plus implement cost advantage pricing models and Service Level Agreements.
• Manage the annual budget and quarterly forecasting to identify price variances and insights.

The Requirements:

• Demonstrable and direct experience specifically within purchasing, ideally from within an FMCG environment.
• A degree would be advantageous although not essential.
• Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards the qualification.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience of supplier performance management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence internally and externally.
• A proven track record of delivering cost savings and service enhancements against agreed targets.
• A strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
• Capable of building strong and lasting strategic relationships.
