THE ROLE

Reporting to the EMEA Financial Controller, the UK Group Accounting and Controls Manager is a new EMEA role with responsibility for managing and delivering UK and UK subsidiary companies’ US GAAP monthly reporting. UK ‘group’ includes companies in UK and its subsidiary companies, branches and Joint Ventures in, South Africa, Turkey and Switzerland.  Responsibilities include group reporting activities, quarterly SOX certification processes, partnering with external and internal auditors, and supporting financial process and control audits. In addition, the role will deliver the annual statutory accounts for trading and non-trading UK companies, leading standardization initiatives and provide expert accounting systems (SAP, Hyperion/HFM) guidance as needed to specific business units and on a monthly basis. This role will also directly support the regional group reporting close as required.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage UK trading and non-trading companies’ monthly, quarterly and annual period close and group reporting activities (UK 8 companies), including ownership of group accounting submissions (Hyperion/HFM) and annual preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Lead the support for new and existing UK ‘group’ business units with accounting and control process optimization, standardization and efficiency reviews, expanding scope of Shared Services, regular monitoring and site visits (e.g. Quarterly balance sheet reviews) to ensure that the reporting systems and control environments are appropriate to the size and complexity of the respective businesses.
  • Support the EMEA Reporting Manager with monthly regional close processes and become an expert HFM reporting system user to provide practical guidance to UK ‘group’ business units across the region.
  • Lead and participate in ad-hoc special projects identified by EMEA Controller or EMEA CFO (e.g.: regional accounting, controls, systems, process, and compliance projects).
  • Manage quarterly UK ‘group’ SOX reporting and provide ad hoc support for regular control updates, liaising directly with internal and external auditors to support control review activities.
  • Provide back-up support for other Controlling team members.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • ACA or equivalent PQE with external audit, internal control and commercial/financial accounting experience.
  • Previous employment with Big 4 and/or multinational organization is preferred.
  • SAP and consolidation systems experience required (eg: Hyperion/HFM), excellent MS office skills
  • Exposure to project management and process improvement techniques beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid communication skills to lead and influence others
  • Excellent English required. French or Polish beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards including UK statutory accounting
  • Exposure to FMCG business environment beneficial
  • Knowledge of internal control and/or SOX requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence without formal authority
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, apply sound judgment and solve complex problems
