Job Details

A leading UK Retailer is now looking for a Head of Trading for their Fresh and Chilled range. The individual will have full ownership of the category and will be responsible for driving sales and profitability. The role will also involve continuous product development and promotion planning. This buying opportunity will be based in London offering a highly competitive salary.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Development of strategic category plans to deliver on promotions, range reviews, product and price
  • Management of 7 direct reports
  • Build new and existent supplier partnership to increase the growth of the business as part of the category development plan
  • Close monitoring of other competitive markets to spot new trends and identify other revenue streams 
  • Increase cross selling relationships with other teams to maximise productivity 
  • Work closely with the Merchandising team to manage and negotiate with existing suppliers to maximise sales and profitability 
  • Management of overall category performance metrics

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Food Buying Experience and Own Brand Development
  • Vast commercial awareness 
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical skills 
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team 
  • Building and managing supplier relationships 
  • Advanced retail/product background 
  • Results Driven
  • Strong PC and Software Skills
