Benfield Motor Group is seeking to fulfil its vision of becoming a world class motor retailer whilst representing desirable marques in both the premier and volume segments. Since incorporation in 1962 the group has expanded both organically and through selective acquisitions to become one of the largest and best known private companies in the motor retailing market. The portfolio includes 15 franchises across 25 locations comprising a diverse range of brands: Alfa Romeo; Audi; Chrysler;   Dacia; Ford; Honda; Hyundai; Jeep; Kia; Lexus;Nissan; Renault; Skoda; Toyota; and Volkswagen.

The group has invested substantially in technology and aligned its operations and vision with the fast changing external environment. The Benfield brand has been enriched in recent years through a number of initiatives and now enjoys a strong market presence. Similarly, the marketing function is now being strengthened to embrace contemporary routes to market; specifically, a dedicated Marketing Director appointment at executive board level, increased investment in the marketing function and the creation of new strategic marketing roles at manager level.

The Role

As a member of the executive board, your over-riding objective is to maximise revenue and margin through effective marketing.

  • Lead the marketing team, develop and execute the marketing strategy
  • Turn vision into a marketing plan
  • Ensure the group’s strategy and business plan is incorporated into the marketing plan and its execution
  • Assimilate a diverse customer proposition into a cohesive message to market
  • Ensure the management of data, information and insight is imparted across the group
  • Ensure marketing team understanding of entire customer journey
  • Maximise sales through central team, driving development and delivery of the CRM Journey
  • Monitor effective and efficient management of all customer communications
  • Monitor correct and effective coordination of brands (Benfield and franchise)
  • Ensure marketing activities are performed to highest standards, conforming to best practice in health & safety, employee care and legal management of intellectual property
  • Monitor execution of PR plan, including maintenance of positive press relations

 

The Candidate

You should exhibit the following experience and traits:

  • Marketing experience at board or senior management level; strategic decision making ability
  • Relevant sector experience: e.g. retail, consumer or retail financial services
  • Able to align with group values and maxims
  • Integrated marketing communication experience
  • In-depth digital marketing experience
  • Able to assimilate diverse information whilst operating within a cohesive and structured framework
  • Evidence of creating value based relationships
  • Able to perform effectively within a matrix business structure
  • Capability to align strategy with wider operations
  • Proven leadership and coaching qualities
