Role Description

This role is to be a key figurehead of the business to its clients, responsible for growing market share in the UK, by winning and developing relationships with leading retailers;  creating and implementing bespoke category management and development plans.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively driving the growth of existing and new customer relationships, with particular focus on the major grocers, discounters and wholesalers
  • Provision of strategic sales and retail market insight, creation and delivery of the UK sales and category management plan for the UK and European leadership team
  • Being a key player in the UK and European management teams, driving successful business forward, engaging closely and effectively with the other executives across an international matrix

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Candidates should be sales professionals with a number of years of senior level experience gained in a commercial role in the food and drinks industry, with a good understanding of the fresh/short shelf sector. They should have excellent relationships and knowledge of the major UK retail players and be personally experienced in winning significant new business and developing category management within these clients.  The ideal candidate will have a background that includes both blue chip organisations and greenfield development/start-up ventures, and be able to demonstrate successful ways of working in both.

They should be able to qualify their personal contribution to previous business successes and demonstrate a passion, drive and determination to progress their career further. It is also important that candidates can demonstrate wide ranging business acumen and exceptional ability to influence and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of the extended organisation. The post holder will be capable of channeling the inputs of all concerned from differing functions, and creating a common purpose.

Personal attributes our client is looking for include:

  • Gravitas and influencing skills to develop relationships at the appropriate level with customers and internal stakeholders
  • A dynamic communicator with good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships quickly
  • A highly motivated self starter, able to take the initiative and push projects forward, focused on achieving results
  • Energy, passion, drive and tenacity

They have ambitious plans and are significantly extending their production capabilities in the UK, turnover is expected to reach £100 million in the near future.
