An exciting opportunity has arisen in a global private label non-food FMCG business for a Senior National Account Manager. This role will be managing their largest grocery account Asda, and has the scope to develop into a Sales Director position within the next 4-5 years. The company head office is in the northern home counties and you will need to be in the office 2-3 days per week with the rest of the time spent with the customer (Asda) or working from home.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Developing and following up the Asda Account Plans

- Manage all aspects of the commercial negotiations, sales development and customer interface

- Preparing the customer meetings, meeting with the customers regularly and do a visit report with key next steps / actions

- Deliver the sales and margin targets set by the annual budget as a minimum and constantly be looking to further develop sale and profit.

- Maximise the mix of several product categories and achieve a good distribution of sku's for each of these categories

- Internally, this position relies on dealing with many different departments of the company such as Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Quality

- Ensure delivery of sales and margin targets in line with those agreed in the annual budget process.

- Manage and control all A & P investments and ensure that you get value for money for all promotional support given to the customer.

- Proactively seek ways of increasing sales through promotion and brand building activity - working as a team with customer, Technical KAM and Product Management team.

- Maximise return on all promotional activity and measure and report on the effectiveness of all promotion investments

- Hold regular quarterly reviews in order to report against plan and introduce new initiatives to drive the business forward

- Liaise directly with stores to ensure implementation of accounts Own Brand plans are flawless

- Minimise stock holding throughout the entire supply chain

- Take responsibility for payment to agreed terms.

- Ensure accuracy of forecasting and informing the business of any needs arising.

- Keep in-touch with all market developments both on price and product.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor degree or equivalent (preferable if Business, Economics or Business Administration)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong FMCG national account management experience required within UK grocery

- Experience of both branded FMCG or own label will be considered

- Experience in personal care products would be a bonus

- Experience in the private label market would be an advantage

- Language: Fluent English (additional languages would be an advantage especially German, French or Spanish)

- Graduate calibre

- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

- The best communication skills in the business

- Diplomacy - be able to handle apparent conflicting interests

- Excellent communication skills

- Influencing skills - will need to manage people and get buy in without direct authority

- Organised and Structured

- Analytical ability - PC literate and able to crunch numbers

- High level of business acumen & commercially aware of the decisions taken and the impact they could have on both customer and the business

- Bright enough to handle Business Strategy, to be able to understand the "bigger picture" and be able to implement winning action plans.
